'Afghanistan - Worth the Sacrifice'

On Tuesday 11th November 2008 Rt. Hon John Hutton MP, Secretary of State for Defence, adressed the IISS on 'Afghanistan – Worth the Sacrifice'.

Mr Hutton was giving his maiden speech as Secretary of State for Defence and chose to address the issue of Afghanistan.

On Wednesday 5th November Dr Dana Allin and Professor Anatol Lieven spoke on "America After the Elections.”

Professor Anatol Lieven is Chair of International Relations and Terrorism Studies at King's College London, and a senior fellow of the New America Foundation in Washington DC. Dr Dana Allin is Editor of Survival and Senior Fellow for Transatlantic Affairs at IISS in London.

The Korea Forum marks the 50th Anniversary of the IISS and the Inauguration of The Asan Institute for Policy Studies (AIPS) and was held in Seoul on 26-28 September 2008 on the theme of ‘Korea in the Emerging Asian Power Balance’.
