In the past, the Latin America programme had focused on IISS-US Senior Consulting Fellow Linda Robinson’s project ‘Colombia’s War and the US Response: A Case Study of US Special Forces in 21st Century Conflict’. The Colombia project provided a greater understanding and analysis of the use of Special Forces.
IISS-US has hosted workshops with US Special Forces to analyse the future of Special Forces in the war on terrorism as well as to examine the role of Special Forces in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom. The Colombia Project published its research in a Survival article entitled Colombia’s Tipping Point.
