The IISS offers three tiers of Membership:
Members are part of a club of experts and specialists in world events, with access to a network of analysts, writers and commentators. The Institute draws heavily on its international membership to participate in conferences throughout the world, and in particular the annual Global Strategic Review (GSR) meeting.
The IISS is a professional organisation and membership is open to professionals in our field. Student membership is primarily intended for graduate students.
We organise more than 20 international meetings a year; the invitation lists for these will always include interested Members of the Institute. Increasingly, IISS meetings in London include major speeches by renowned international figures followed by searching question and answer sessions, as Arundel House is perceived as the venue of choice for public policy pronouncements. Members contribute to our publications, and may be invited because of their specialist knowledge to join our Corporate Advisory Panel or the IISS's team of consultants. Members have privileged access to their own area of the Institute's website, and visitors to Arundel House may use the IISS's information and library service. The IISS and its Membership are together seen as highly influential in shaping the strategic agenda.
