International Institute for Strategic Studies – US (IISS-US)

 

 

The International Institute for Strategic Studies – US is currently seeking volunteer full-time and part-time interns to support the management of its office in Washington, DC. Applications are considered on a rolling basis, but loosely correlate to the seasons and academic terms.  Applications will be kept on file for a period of 1 year after which they are no longer kept.

 

To be considered for the Spring 2009 semester, kindly submit a complete application no later than 5 December 2008.

 

Requirements:

  • Successful candidates will be at least a college sophomore in good standing, a graduate student, or a recent graduate.
  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent from a non-US institution.
  • Must be eligible to enter the US. IISS-US regrets that it cannot assist with procuring visas or entry permits.

 

Opportunities:

Interns will be required to perform administrative duties, research, and other support, and assist with event and media management. Successful applicants can expect to gain direct exposure to the work and management of a leading think-tank with a multinational presence.

  1. Resume
  2. Cover letter (specify dates available and how long you would like your application to be considered)
  3. Writing sample (of no more than 1500 words) on a subject relating to international security or strategic studies
  4. Official transcript(s) for all post-secondary schools attended (photocopies are acceptable)
  5. Two letters of reference, with at least one from a faculty member

 

Applications will not be considered complete until all materials are received.
